We print hot foil alongside letterpress. It’s perfect for light colours on dark stocks.
What is hot foil?
Hot foil printing is very similar to letterpress printing. Rather than ink, heat and pressure are used to transfer colour pigment—or metallic and pigmented foils—onto the paper.
A heated die presses the foil against the substrate, activating the adhesive layer so the foil bonds to the paper in the areas of impression. This produces a crisp, often slightly debossed print that catches light and adds richness.
Can I have a mixture of letterpress and hot foil printing?
Yes we can print with both letterpress and hot foil on the same item. Combining letterpress and hot foil techniques can create a really special piece of print.
What colours are available?
We have access to a vast range of coloured, gold, silver, clear and patterned foils. If you supply a Pantone reference we can suggest the nearest colour match. We can also supply samples of the coloured foil to help with decisions.
Can I have hot foil printing on both sides?
Yes, the same rules apply as printing letterpress on both sides.
How long does it take compared to letterpress?
Turnaround is the same for hot foiling. We will give you a more accurate turnaround time before order confirmation.
